She completed her MA in Curriculum & Instruction (2002) in Hacettepe University and MSc in International Environmental Science in Lund University (2005) in Sweden with the Swedish Institute Scholarship. \u0130lhan completed her PhD in the field of Environmental Sciences at the Institute of Science and Technology (ICTA) in Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona with the FI scholarship from the Catalan Government. Meanwhile she also worked as a research associate, under the supervision of Joan David T\u00e0bara, in the European Union funded project called \u201cMethods and Tools for Integrated Sustainability Assessment\u201d (MATISSE). After completing her studies, she came back to Turkey and worked for the Right to Water Campaign (Istanbul\/Turkey) in the period of 2012-2018. She also gives lectures (\u201cEnvironment & Tourism\u201d and \u201cSustainability from Environmental & Social Perspectives\u201d) in Bo\u011fazi\u00e7i University Tourism Administration Department since 2017. Akg\u00fcn \u0130lhan is the author of the book Towards a New Water Policy: Water Management, Alternatives and Recommendations (2011) and chapters and articles in books, newspapers and magazines about various dimensions of the water crisis and climate change in Turkey. She is the producer of a radio program called Su Hakk\u0131 which was aired between 2012-2018 and a current radio program with the name Sudan Gelen since May 2018 in A\u00e7\u0131k Radyo.
